One Battle After Another, la nueva película de Paul Thomas Anderson, se consolida como la gran favorita de la temporada de premios tras encabezar la longlist de los BAFTA Film Awards 2026. La cinta obtuvo 16 menciones luego de la primera ronda de votaciones, el mayor número registrado desde que este formato fue introducido en 2021.
Muy de cerca le siguen Hamnet, de Chloé Zhao, y Sinners, de Ryan Coogler, ambas con 14 menciones. Josh Safdie obtuvo 13 con Marty Supreme, mientras que Bugonia, de Yorgos Lanthimos, y Frankenstein, de Guillermo del Toro, alcanzaron 12 cada una. Por su parte, Sentimental Value y Wicked: For Good sumaron ocho menciones.
I Swear y Pillion obtuvieron seis menciones cada una, mientras que The Ballad of Wallis Island logró cinco, incluyendo categorías interpretativas. Robert Aramayo y Peter Mullan (I Swear), Harry Melling y Alexander Skarsgård (Pillion), así como Carey Mulligan (The Ballad of Wallis Island), avanzaron a la segunda ronda. Además, I Swear, The Ballad of Wallis Island y Nuremberg consiguieron un lugar en la competitiva longlist de Mejor Película.
No obstante, la primera ronda de votaciones también dejó algunas ausencias notables. It Was Just an Accident, de Jafar Panahi y ganadora de la Palma de Oro, solo obtuvo dos menciones, mientras que The Secret Agent no logró posicionar a Wagner Moura en las categorías actorales, a pesar de su proyección rumbo al Óscar. Asimismo, Sirāt, una de las cintas con mayor conversación reciente, quedó limitada a dos menciones en categorías técnicas.
